Anthony Sgherza

P.T., A.T.C., PhD, C.S.C.S.

Throughout his professional career, Anthony has donned many hats in sports performance.  He spent his formative years as a physical therapist and athletic trainer at New York University (NYU) Sports Therapy Center.  While at NYU, Anthony earned his PhD in patho-kinesiology and when outside the clinic or off the field, he cultivated his fascination with sport as a multi-sport athlete training and consulting with the university’s running, cycling, and triathlon club teams.  A recreational athlete, Anthony has completed 14 marathons, two Ironman triathlons, and too many road races to mention.

Anthony is former Program Director of Strength and Conditioning at Lyndon State College and former athletic trainer and strength coach with the Vermont Mountaineers of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL).  Anthony recently completed strength and conditioning assignments with Penn State Football (2013) and UMass Football (2016).  Anthony holds certifications from National Strength and Conditioning Association, Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Association, and USA Weightlifting.  He is also currently working at Northern Physical Therapy as a physical therapist.

Anthony’s philosophy on student-athlete development can be summed up in three words – committed, coachable, and aware.
